This Weekend

Oct. 23rd, 2008 | 03:19 pm
Music: Albert Hammond Jr - GFC

Teddy just left for a business trip to St. Paul, MN. He is going to learn some sort of new way to punch cars wirelessly or something of that nature. He will be back in town late Sunday. So this leaves me a whole weekend to myself.  I am  a little jealous though because he gets to go to a town where the high right now is 55...that's my kinda of weather...he will suffer though. Teddy is not a cold weather person.

Tonight I am going to hang with my parents, maybe wash some clothes. You know be a party monster!
Friday Matt and myself are going to hang....maybe do the downtown thing and that night we plan on watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force the Movie while I cook us some white beans
Saturday in the A.M. I will be with my mom shopping and that night I am pretty free. I think I might go hang with James and Janet!
Sunday is Voodoo fest with Matt

In othe news, I gave myself a mild concussion last night. I some how hit my head of my metal bar that lays across our sliding glass door, after hitting the bar, I then proceeded to slam my head on the actually glass and then pass out for a few seconds. Nice!

LSU

Music: Band of Horses - Islands On The Coast

Saturday I went to a friend's house to watch the LSU game. Only words I can come up with for that night is.....WOW! REALLY LSU!

LSU proceeded to lose to Florida by 51 points by the time the game was done. We dropped from number 3 in the nation to number 13. Next week we play South Carolina at their stadium. I do not have much hope.

I know its a rebuilding season, considering we do not have any quaterback that is good enough or worthy enough to play big SEC teams like Florida, Georgia or Alabama but I did not expect to lose by this much of a margin. Looks like we will not repeat championships!

In other news, I need to find a new job. Long story short, I no longer have one. Sucks. I hate going on interviews and applying to jobs. Should be a fun week for me.

An Early Start

Music: Your Vegas - In my head

I've decided to get an early start on christmas gifts. I sat down and wrote out everyone who would be receiving gifts and cards from Teddy and I this year.(Can you tell I'm slightly bored at work) I felt accomplished after doing so, so I felt the need to go back and add the exact gifts each person will receive next to their names. I pretty much have ideas for everyone, but its the people I know the best like Teddy himself and my grandparents that I can't figure gifts for. I usually give ted cologne but that's so impersonal.Maybe I'll shake things up and give him a cologne AND body wash!

As far as friends go, I've decided to for-fit the gift giving this year and just settle on a party at the apartment. Figured beer, liquor and food was the key to their heart anyway.Don't see the need to spend money on each other for gifts when we can just have a good time playing poker together and call it a night.

Decorating will be exciting as well. I have a whole apartment and patio to adorn in christmas parphernalia as opposed to my little room. I believe I will be shopping this weekend. I have some stuff left over from last year, but I want it to look like the holidays vomited all over our home!

And did anyone happen to watch Making the Band last night? (I know its riduclous that a 23 and 25 year old are interested in this show) Does anyone agree that Aubrey looks like she was gang banged and left in the gutter? She is looking ROUGH!

Crazy Week

Oct. 6th, 2008 | 03:13 pm
Mood: crankycranky
Music: The Kooks - Do You Wanna

So last week was kinda crazy: Run down of what we all did

My dear friend Paul, justblink who i havn't seen in ages, came over to our apartment and we all had a wonderfully dinner cooked by Teddy. We feasted on huge 8oz steaks and J Alexander's Mac n Cheese. Watched a little Survivor, chatted and had a great time!

Sept 30th - Teddy and I traveled to Baton Rouge to see The Kooks play at The Varsity. I am a fan of the varsity, but only for concerts. It holds about 200 people and has great acoustics. Very intimate shows. We got there when doors opened @ 8 and was lucky enough to get a stop at the bar behind the sound board. We got to sit the entire time and didn't have to worry about the crowd getting crazy or people standing infront of us. Also the bar had Abita Strawberry, which consiquently ,happens to be my favorite beer. The Kooks sounded amazing live. Great Energy. Their lead singer is a trip however. He resembles a mini Noel Gallagher. They played about 18 songs and we really enjoyed ourselves.

I bought my Voodoo tickets this week. Matt and I decided to go on Sunday. We were able to get 2 for the price of one, so basically we paid $27.50 each for our tickets instead of the normal $50+fees.  Snaps to Matt for this find. I am slowly finding myself getting excited about the day. NERD and Cold War Kids are gonna be great. www.thetenthritual.com/ Only negative is that Teddy is going out of town for work that weekend, so he is going to have to miss the show. Sorry buddy....I'll take pictures!

My pet has now gotten herself a best friend. I bought her this cheese chew toy from Walmart this weekend and now she has decided to take it with her everywhere. Its actually quite hystrical. She sleeps with one paw on the cheese at all times just to make sure it doesn't go anywhere. This has been hours of entertainment for us all. See, paw never leaves the damn thing, even though I was poking her.

Went and saw Nick and Nora's Infinate Playlist on Saturday. I enjoyed this movie more then I thought I would. The writing is really good and I enjoyed the actors very much, espcially the girl who played the "alcoholic" Caroline. I believe she is my soul sister! Although I do have one small problem and that is Michael Cera. I find him adorable but he seems to play the same character in every movie he does. The soundtrack to this movie is even better than the actual film. Alot of great indie bands are featured and I found myself rocking out a little bit more than I should have in the theatre. Also SNL was actually funny this night. Anne Hathaway did a great job and the "The Lawrence Welk Show" skit is my favorite so far from this season. Although "It Smells Like Pepper" from the Michael Phelps episode closely follows.

A honest Post

Sep. 26th, 2008 | 10:20 pm
Music: Sevendust - The Past

Recently I had to evacuate for Hurricane Gustav and Teddy, myself and the hamster traveled to Tampa to stay with my grandparents who recently moved into a condo this February. Since I've returned from this trip, I have been contemplating alot of different aspects of my life. To give you the abbreviated version: my grandmother, who i adore, has class c cirrhosis and the doctors gave her 2-4 years. Its been about 2 since i found this information out. This news has taken a toll on myself because I am very fortunate to have both set of my grandparents and almost all of my immediate family in my life. Alot of thinking later, I realized I always wanted to move to the city of Tampa, and what better time than now.

The job I have now is great, but is not working out for me at this point in my life, so I am on a job hunt. There are not alot of Communications or PR jobs in new orleans or really Louisiana for that manner, however after a short search on the internet i found that tampa has quite a few openings in jobs i am qualified to do. I think i am going to bite the bullet and apply to them. Even though I will have to leave teddy in new orleans ( he says he can not at this point in time leave his job) i feel its best for myself.  I would be very upset with myself if i didn't even try to get closer to my grandmother in these crucial years. She is very close to my heart and she has always been there for me, so I want to be there for her.

I plan on devoting most of my day tomorrow to emailing and applying to as many jobs in tampa and new orleans as possible. Of course I will have to break to watch LSU beat the shit out of Mississippi State!!

Disney

Recently I've stumbled upon the website for a professional internship program with Walt Disney. (disney.go.com/disneycareers/internships/home.html) Basically its a paid internship with the Disney company and they provide living arrangements, its 6 months and they offer a variety of different PR programs I can choose and apply for. I am seriously considering this. It's a win, win, win. I get to beef up with resume with a huge company like Disney, it's paid, I learn even more information about my field and its only an hour from my family in Tampa. Only down side to this is that I will be away from Teddy from January-June. All this said, I'm not even sure they will pick me. My resume is good, not perfect, but who knows. There is always that one person who has a sight advantage over you professionaly but it never hurts to try and apply. I aways thought Disney internships made people run around and sell mickey bars or operate rides. Guess I thought wrong!

If I don't get an internship, I'm thinking about going back to school. The one where I am at now is a joke and have no classes conducive to normal working people, but I'm gonna see what they offer. I'm only two semesters away from my two year and I would hate to transfer and lose some credits.  I just need to get my ass in gear and finish up with  my degree because I will have another 2 more years for my bachelors. I will take what I can get I suppose.

All About Music...

Sep. 16th, 2008 | 06:58 pm
Music: Kings Of Leon - Closer

So I have the pleasure of getting an advance copy of the new Kings Of Leon cd "Only By The Night" last Friday and I have to tell everyone that it's amazing. I'm a little biased when it comes to this band because I am long time fans but this cd album surprised me. Very mellow and polished and has some great songs on it. Tracks 1-5 are nearly perfect. Cd slows down a bit by 7 & 8 but picks back up and ends strong. Good stuff....I give it an A.

In other music news, I am going to The Varsity (www.varsitytheatre.com) to see The Kooks, The Whigs & The Switches play on the 30th of this month. Should be a great show. All three bands put on fun shows from what I hear.

Voodoo fest is next month and I'm contemplating on which day is should attend. All three days have great bands preforming but not one schedule really jumps out and makes me want to attend on that particular day. I'm pretty sure Friday is out because I will have to work and there is no point in paying for a full price ticket and only seeing half of the shows. Although it breaks my heart because TV on the Radio plays that day as well as STP.
Saturday has some good bands: NIN, Lil Wayne, Mars Volta, Manchest Orchestre, Old 97's, Interpartysystem, Dead Confederate and Ashes Divide.

Sunday: REM, NERD, Lupe Fiasco, Panic at the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Cold War Kids, Butthold Surfers, Toyoko Police Club, Irma Thomas, Cowboy Mouth, The Vettts
....who knows, maybe I'll buy tickets to both days!
